Opportunity Overview:
Each project comes with distinct tasks, where contributors may be engaged in:
- Crafting innovative computational physics problems that replicate genuine physics research workflows;
- Formulating problems that necessitate Python programming for resolution (utilizing libraries like Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy);
- Ensuring problems are computationally demanding and cannot be resolved manually within practical timeframes;
- Developing challenges that involve complex reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics;
- Grounding problems in authentic research difficulties or practical applications in the field of physics;
- Validating solutions through Python using standard physics simulation libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified solutions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
This role is suited for optical engineers with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. The ideal candidates will possess:
- A degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, Computational) or a relevant discipline;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation. Equivalent experience in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or similar programming languages is acceptable;
- At least 2 years of professional experience, which can include applied, research, or teaching roles;
- Familiarity with numerical simulation techniques;
- Capability to design problems reflective of real physics research workflows;
- Creative problem-solving abilities across various physics domains;
- Understanding of physics modeling and approximation methods;
- Strong written English skills (C1 level or higher).

For this project, tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week during active phases, based on specific project needs. This is an estimate and does not guarantee workload.
Compensation Details:
Contributors can earn up to $45 per hour, depending on their contribution level and pace. Compensation may vary across projects based on scope, complexity, and required expertise, with other projects potentially offering different earnings.
