Role overview

The Freelance Research Physicist with Python expertise designs and validates advanced computational physics problems modeled after real research challenges. Projects are remote and based in Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Main responsibilities

  • Create computational physics problems that reflect authentic research workflows.
  • Develop challenges requiring Python programming solutions, especially with Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy.
  • Design problems that are computationally intensive, taking days or weeks to solve manually.
  • Cover a range of topics including mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
  • Base problems on real research obstacles or practical physics applications.
  • Validate solutions in Python using established physics simulation libraries.
  • Document problem statements clearly and provide verified solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a related field.
  • Proficient in Python for numerical validation. Experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or domain-specific libraries is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in applied work, research, or teaching.
  • Expertise in numerical simulation methods.
  • Ability to design problems that mirror real-world research workflows in physics.
  • Creative approach to developing problems across multiple physics domains.
  • Understanding of physics modeling and approximation techniques.
  • Strong written English skills at C1 level or higher.
