About Helion
Helion is a pioneering fusion energy company located in Everett, WA, dedicated to constructing the world’s first fusion power plant. Our mission is to facilitate a future where clean, limitless electricity is accessible to all.
Since our inception in 2013, we have successfully secured over $1 billion from esteemed investors including Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group, alongside new partners like SoftBank and Lightspeed. Our latest prototype, Trenta, has achieved remarkable milestones, completing 10,000 high-power pulses and reaching plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). Currently, we are advancing with Polaris, our next prototype, on our journey to revolutionize energy.
Joining Helion now means being part of an extraordinary moment. You will confront genuine challenges alongside a team that values urgency, meticulousness, accountability, and a commitment to transparency. These principles are crucial to accomplishing what has never been done before. Together, we will reshape the energy landscape because the world cannot wait.
Your Role:
As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will serve as a vital link between our fusion machine operators and our sophisticated software systems. You will be responsible for designing and implementing user interfaces that our operators engage with daily. By immersing yourself with the operators in the control room, you will gain insights into their workflows, tools, and challenges, enabling you to craft interfaces that enhance efficiency, clarity, and confidence. You will manage the frontend of critical operator tools, developing real-time data visualizations, actionable alerts, and seamless interactions that empower our teams to operate the fusion machine safely and effectively. This hands-on position will involve designing, prototyping, and deploying production-ready software while collaborating closely with software, hardware, and operator teams. This role will be performed onsite at our Everett, WA location, reporting directly to the Lead Electrical Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
Merge frontend engineering and UX/UI design expertise to develop applications for operators.
Engage with machine operators to thoroughly understand their workflows, tools, and challenges.
Collaborate with other software vendors to integrate various applications into our product suite.
Transform workflows into prototypes, mockups, and production-ready code.
Unify fragmented applications to create seamless user experiences.
