Your Role:

As the Fuel Cycle Engineering Lead at Helion, you will spearhead a diverse team of engineers tasked with designing and implementing the fuel cycle systems vital for Orion, our advanced fusion power plant. You will establish the technical trajectory for crucial fuel cycle technologies encompassing various separation, vacuum, and cryogenic processes, ensuring their flawless integration into Orion and subsequent fusion platforms. Furthermore, you will enhance Helion's efforts to mitigate risks by identifying and managing projects that address key technological challenges and exploring new fuel cycle methodologies.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team responsible for the architecture, design, procurement, installation, and validation of Orion’s fuel cycle systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Fuel Cycle Operations and R&D teams to drive design risk reduction through testing and validating assumptions on in-house pilot scale systems and the Polaris prototype.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Special Projects, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and broader engineering teams to define interface requirements and ensure fully integrated system designs.
  • Identify critical technology risks and lead projects to mitigate them, facilitating the strategic execution and expansion of Helion’s fuel cycle capabilities.
