Qualifications

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related scientific field (engineering, physics), or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in full-stack web application development, utilizing Python, Django, and Angular. Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.Proficient with version control systems such as Git or SVN. Hands-on experience in implementing and debugging Elastic Search, PostgreSQL, and Solr. Experience in developing applications using Docker containers. Familiarity with CI/CD tools including GitLab, Bamboo, and others. Current knowledge of programming languages including Java, Python/Django, JavaScript, CSS, Ruby, HTML5, and database technologies like Oracle or PostgreSQL. Experience with non-SQL database management systems like MongoDB or Cassandra and capability in defining schemas and utilizing supported tools like NodeJS and AngularJS. Solid foundation in computer science principles.

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is excited to announce an opening for a Full-Stack Developer to join our User Services and Collection Division (USCD), a key component of the U. S. National Library of Medicine, part of the National Institutes of Health. The USCD oversees a vast array of biomedical literature, health information, and data resources, dedicated to the core mission of collecting, curating, and connecting the world to invaluable information.

The selected Full-Stack Developer will engage with the DailyMed project. DailyMed is a free, official resource from the NIH, providing the latest drug labeling (package inserts) for both prescription and over-the-counter medications, medical devices, and gases directly from the FDA. Managed by the NLM, it serves as a comprehensive, user-friendly database for patients, clinicians, and researchers to retrieve standardized and up-to-date information on dosages, warnings, interactions, and more, aiding public health initiatives.

This is a full-time position based in Bethesda, MD, working alongside the USCD team.
