About Arc Institute
The Arc Institute is a pioneering scientific organization dedicated to advancing curiosity-driven basic science and technology aimed at understanding and addressing complex human diseases. Based in Palo Alto, California, we operate independently while collaborating closely with esteemed institutions like Stanford University, UCSF, and UC Berkeley.
While traditional university models have yielded significant successes, we emphasize the need for institutional innovation to foster progress. Our key initiatives include:
- Funding: We fully fund our Core Investigators’ research groups, freeing scientists from the constraints of project-based external grants.
- Technology: Our Technology Centers focus on developing, optimizing, and deploying cutting-edge experimental and computational tools in partnership with Core Investigators.
- Support: We provide exceptional operational, financial, and scientific support, empowering researchers to engage in long-term, high-risk, high-reward projects that seek to advance cures for diseases such as neurodegeneration, cancer, and immune dysfunction.
- Culture: We believe in the vital importance of cultivating a scientific culture that prioritizes curiosity, a commitment to truth, ambition, and collaborative spirit.
With a team exceeding 350 individuals and over $650 million in committed funding, our state-of-the-art laboratory facility in Palo Alto positions Arc Institute for rapid growth in the coming years.
