Qualifications

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Robotics Engineering. Proficient knowledge of ISO 26262 or similar safety standards.8+ years of experience in performing Board Level Failure Mode Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) and understanding SoC FMEDA. Strong collaborative skills and effective written and verbal communication abilities. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Automotive Hardware Design and Validation. Certification in ISO 26262 (CFSE, CFSP). Familiarity with Reliability Standards - SN29500, IEC61508.Knowledge of failure mode distribution standards such as FIDES, FMD, etc. Hands-on experience with hardware validation and board bring-up conforming to standards such as ISO-26262, DO-178C, DO-254, IEC 61508.

About the role

Join Vertex Sigma Software as a Functional Safety Engineer in our Advanced Hardware Engineering (AHE) division. In this role, you will collaborate with systems and functional safety teams to conduct comprehensive Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) at both system and sub-system levels. Your expertise will extend into board and component level diagnostics, allowing you to provide critical insights into hardware capabilities and functionality. You will closely interact with systems and design engineers to ensure that requirements are fully understood and met, providing verification and validation of our hardware through rigorous testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and actively engage in quantitative and qualitative functional safety initiatives that contribute to the development of detailed Failure Mode Effects and Diagnostic Analysis.
  • Thoroughly review vendor documentation for components and boards to ascertain diagnostic capabilities.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers to implement diagnostics and work with the verification and validation team to confirm their effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Test Team and Test Infrastructure team to enhance verification processes and improve diagnostic coverage.
  • Establish new requirements to bolster the diagnostic capabilities of our hardware by working closely with both EE and FW teams.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of safety manuals provided by vendors for complex System on Chips (SoCs) and microprocessors.
  • Develop requirements for safety-critical hardware to undertake Fault Injection Testing, adhering to ISO 26262:2018 standards.
