11bitstudios is looking for a Game Director to lead a new, unannounced project from its earliest concept through to launch. This position requires a leader who can balance creative ambition with production realities and market needs. The Game Director will work closely with both creative and technical teams to ensure the project's vision is realized.
Role overview
- Guide the overall direction and vision of the game, shaping its creative and commercial trajectory.
- Oversee development from initial ideas and prototypes to final release, ensuring a cohesive and engaging player experience.
- Collaborate with creative leadership and management to define and align the game's vision, maintaining close alignment with the Chief Creative Officer and Chief Product Officer.
- Set clear guidelines for gameplay features and translate creative ideas into actionable design systems.
- Lead the creative process from ideation through rapid prototyping, adapting direction as needed to address technical or production constraints.
Production partnership
- Work with production teams to evaluate budgets and schedules, set direction, and track progress throughout development.
- Promote best practices at every stage of production.
Team collaboration and leadership
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate conceptual, technical, visual, and narrative elements.
- Support designers in developing features that align with the project vision.
- Work with technology teams to refine tools and systems supporting the project's direction.
- Troubleshoot creative and technical challenges as they arise.
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach, actively engaging with teams and using development tools.
Feedback and mentorship
- Playtest the game regularly, providing actionable feedback and upholding quality standards.
- Mentor team members and offer constructive feedback to help meet project goals.
Market awareness
- Stay current with new technologies and market trends to refine production processes.
- Ensure the creative vision matches business objectives and audience expectations.
- Monitor industry trends to keep production methods and standards up to date.
