Qualifications
Responsibilities:Research, evaluate, and curate geospatial data sources — including public (USGS, USDA, NOAA, Census, state and county open data), open (OpenStreetMap, Microsoft Building Footprints, Overture Maps), and commercial (aerial/satellite imagery, parcel, agriculture, and POI providers) for integration into the Habitat IQ mobile and web application. Assist in the development of features within the Habitat IQ app that depend on geospatial data, such as automatic identification of map features (houses, roads, crops, land cover, water, parcels), boundary and overlay layers, points of interest, routing, and location search functionalities. Download, clean, transform, and organize geospatial datasets into usable formats (GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoTIFF, GeoPackage, Parquet) utilizing QGIS, ArcGIS, or Python-based tools. Conduct quality assurance on geospatial data through spot-checking features against imagery, comparing datasets, and identifying gaps, errors, or coverage issues.
