About the Role
As a GNC Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to enhance our ability to forecast the performance of cutting-edge space vehicles in orbit. Your expertise will encompass vehicle dynamics modeling, orbital dynamics simulation, and the design of controllers that will be implemented on flight-ready avionics. We are seeking a candidate who possesses comprehensive GNC development skills.
Key Responsibilities
Create and manage our 6-DOF simulation to analyze vehicle attitude, station-keeping, and orbital performance.
Design and deploy controllers on space-bound hardware by actively coding software.
Utilize simulations to inform and refine ADCS design.
Collaborate with avionics engineers to ensure efficient and reliable attitude determination and control.
Evaluate orbits, constellation configurations, trajectories, and attitude motion profiles to optimize vehicle service capabilities.
Contribute to high-level decisions regarding vehicle architecture.
Assist in prototyping efforts and implement controllers on prototype hardware.
Develop innovative solutions for challenges associated with accurately directing reflected sunlight from space to specific ground locations.
Qualifications
Demonstrated technical leadership with successful vehicle controllers and simulations (e.g., developed GNC for a specific vehicle).
Experience in establishing simulation environments from the ground up, with a strong understanding of best practices.
Proven track record of implementing attitude control and/or estimation algorithms on spacecraft.
Experience in the verification and validation of GNC flight software within integrated environments, utilizing 6-DOF simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing.
