About the job
About Hark
Hark is at the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation, crafting sophisticated, personalized intelligence systems that are proactive, multimodal, and capable of engaging with the world through speech, text, vision, and persistent memory.
We are merging this intelligence with cutting-edge hardware to establish a universal interface that bridges the gap between humans and machines. While traditional AI mainly relies on outdated devices and chat interfaces, Hark is pioneering the future with agentic systems that naturally interact with people and their environments.
Our mission involves developing multimodal models and next-generation AI hardware concurrently, designed from the ground up as a cohesive interface for a revolutionary era of intelligent systems.
About the Role
We are seeking a Hardware Test Engineer who will be instrumental in creating the test infrastructure that guarantees our AI-powered devices adhere to quality, reliability, and performance benchmarks throughout the development process. You will manage the test strategy from initial board bring-up to mass production, encompassing fixture design, automation scripting, and establishing the criteria for product readiness. Your role will involve executing functional tests on the bench and conducting burn-in and stress tests at the factory, serving as the final quality assurance before our devices reach the end-users.
Responsibilities
- Test Strategy: Define and take ownership of the comprehensive test plan across EVT, DVT, PVT, and production phases.
- Fixture Design: Create and develop custom test fixtures (bed-of-nails, pogo pin, cable harness) for both PCBA and system-level assessments.
- Test Automation: Write automated test scripts in Python to control instruments, gather data, and produce pass/fail reports.
- Board Bring-Up: Lead the electrical bring-up of new PCBAs, diagnosing issues with power rails, clocks, interfaces, and peripheral functionalities.
- Reliability Testing: Design and conduct environmental stress tests, including thermal cycling, vibration, drop tests, and accelerated life testing.
- Production Support: Collaborate with contract manufacturers to set up and maintain test stations on the factory floor, ensuring yield and throughput objectives are met.
- Failure Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis on field returns and test failures using advanced tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and X-ray inspection.
Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Test Automation: Proficiency in Python for instrument control (SCPI/VISA), data analysis, and test reporting.
- Lab Instrumentation: Advanced skills in using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.
