About the Role

We are on the lookout for a talented and detail-oriented UAV Pilot to fly drones equipped with advanced hyperspectral imaging systems. You will be responsible for capturing high-resolution aerial imagery and sensor data across the greater Los Angeles area, with potential travel opportunities across the United States. This position is hands-on and offers flexible hours, ranging from part-time to full-time, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and data integrity during flight operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct drone operations to gather high-quality imagery and sensor data as per mission objectives.

  • Effectively operate drone-mounted hyperspectral imaging systems under varying field conditions.

  • Configure, calibrate, and verify hyperspectral sensors and payload settings prior to each mission.

  • Perform thorough pre-flight inspections and equipment checks for optimal performance.

  • Execute flight plans safely and efficiently across diverse environments.

  • Monitor real-time payload operation and sensor control to guarantee precise data acquisition.

  • Troubleshoot drone, payload, and software issues in the field to minimize downtime and ensure mission success.

  • Ensure data quality, completeness, and integrity before departing from field sites.

  • Maintain detailed flight logs, sensor logs, and mission documentation.

  • Collaborate with internal teams for scheduling and data delivery processes.

  • Utilize and debug commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) drone and imaging software to facilitate smooth operations.

  • Manage FAA Part 107 waiver applications when necessary (e.g., altitude waivers).

  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.

  • Adapt to changing weather conditions and evolving mission requirements.
