About the job
Saronic Technologies is at the forefront of transforming maritime autonomy, committed to creating innovative solutions that enhance operations through cutting-edge autonomous platforms.
About the Role:
We are looking for a talented Industrial Designer to become an integral member of our expanding design team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in defining the physical aesthetic and identity of our next-generation maritime systems, including hulls, deck structures, enclosures, payload modules, and launch systems.
Your collaboration with engineering and fabrication teams will be essential as you translate functional specifications into polished, manufacturable designs that embody Saronic's design ethos. The ideal applicant will possess both an artistic vision and practical craftsmanship, someone who is inventive and hands-on, comfortable with sketching concepts, modeling forms, and constructing physical prototypes.
This position entails direct collaboration with mechanical and naval engineering teams; while engineering focuses on functional and structural aspects, industrial design emphasizes form, proportion, and aesthetic integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concept and Form Development: Visualize and generate concepts that effectively translate engineering-defined requirements into cohesive and functional designs. Create proportionally accurate surfaces and visual models that reflect Saronic's industrial design language.
- Surface Modeling and Visualization: Utilize tools such as Rhino or similar surface modeling software to create 3D concept geometries for iterative review. Produce high-quality renderings and visualization assets using applications like KeyShot or Blender to communicate design intent.
- Aesthetic Consistency and CMF: Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of Saronic's design language across vessels and supporting hardware while collaborating with product and engineering leads on color, material, and finish (CMF) definitions.
- Prototype Support: Construct or coordinate the fabrication of visual mockups and presentation models for design reviews, trade shows, or stakeholder evaluations, ensuring alignment with engineering constraints and product team approvals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and innovation.
