Role Summary:

  • Act as the primary Industrial Engineering expert for radar system development and manufacturing.
  • Design scalable production systems from initial prototype stages to full-rate production.
  • Lead initiatives in production rate modeling, capacity planning, cost optimization, and factory flow design.
  • Integrate Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to enhance producibility in radar product development.
  • Measure design decisions based on metrics such as production rate, yield, labor content, capital efficiency, and throughput.
  • Oversee manufacturing system readiness for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and Full Rate Production (FRP) transitions.

Responsibilities:

  • Production System Architecture
    • Develop factory production models for radar subsystems and overall system integration.
    • Design efficient production flows including:
      • Line layout
      • Station balancing
      • Takt time definition
      • Labor modeling
      • Equipment utilization
    • Identify production bottlenecks and constraints affecting rate.
    • Establish a capital equipment strategy including test stations, automation, and alignment fixtures.
    • Support plans for factory expansion and scaling.
  • DFMA & Producibility Integration
    • Conduct structured DFMA reviews during concept, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and pre-production phases.
    • Assess cost, labor, and cycle time implications of design choices.
    • Drive simplification initiatives in:
      • RF module integration
      • Aperture and structural assemblies
      • Harness routing and connectors
      • Thermal management solutions
    • Analyze tolerance stack-ups that impact yield and integration consistency.
