Position Overview
We invite passionate students to join us as an Industrial Engineer Intern, where you will play a pivotal role in the design and scaling of our autonomous service vessels. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your academic skills in a practical environment, contributing to projects that are vital for national security and maritime technological advancements. Ideal candidates are those studying industrial engineering or related disciplines, eager to make a significant impact within the defense technology sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of hardware and software systems for Autonomous Service Vessels (ASVs).
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, enhance, and refine ASV prototypes.
- Ensure that vessel designs align with mission-specific operational needs.
- Document progress, prepare reports, and present findings to the team effectively.
- Engage in manufacturing projects focused on improving efficiency and scalability within our production processes.
- Enhance the organization and layout of the manufacturing floor.
- Lead process improvement initiatives through time studies and workflow analysis.
- Support database analysis for production tracking and planning.
- Contribute to the design of light tools and fixtures as necessary.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize production.
Candidate Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
- Understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
- Familiarity with robotics, autonomy, and maritime control systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Occasional standing and movement within the office and manufacturing environments.
