Role overview The Lead Field Service Technician position is based in Ashburn, Virginia. This hands-on role manages a team of about eight field service technicians and engineers, supporting two to six active customer sites. Responsibilities span both direct field work and team oversight, with a focus on start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IEM products. Supervisory responsibilities Guide, direct, and coach field service technicians daily. Provide mentorship and technical support to the team. Key responsibilities Lead and coordinate start-up and commissioning activities for electrical equipment at customer sites, ensuring timely completion and resolution of outstanding issues. Supervise, mentor, and train field service technicians on a daily basis. Act as the technical expert, offering advanced troubleshooting and product knowledge to technicians and engineers. Travel as needed to manufacturing or field service locations for training, factory tests, and shop testing. Identify project risks that could impact technician performance and report them to management. Work on-site to complete project start-up and commissioning, resolving punch list items efficiently. Collaborate with Project Managers to update punch lists and support project closure. Coordinate with commercial and administrative teams for requests outside the scope of start-up and commissioning. Ensure technicians have the necessary tools, materials, and documentation for each site. Report product or quality issues to management and work with production and engineering teams to address them. Work with Division Manager, Field Service Manager, Field Service Support, and Site Operations Representative to schedule additional field resources as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
