The Fiber Optic Splicing Supervisor leads all fiber-optic splicing activities within designated projects or market areas. This pivotal role guarantees superior splicing quality, extensive testing, effective troubleshooting, and thorough documentation while managing field teams, collaborating with construction leaders, and upholding customer quality and safety standards. The Supervisor is charged with overseeing production output, crew performance, material management, and strict compliance with project specifications. Operational LeadershipDirect and manage daily operations of fiber splicing crews (both aerial and underground).Strategically plan, schedule, and coordinate splicing efforts with construction managers, quality control teams, and clients.Ensure that all splicing, testing, labeling, and documentation conform to project specifications (including OTDR, power meter, and light source testing).Establish daily production objectives and guarantee crews achieve or surpass these goals.Perform on-site inspections to assess splicing quality, restoration effectiveness, safety compliance, and workmanship standards.Technical & Field ResponsibilitiesConduct complex fiber splicing, troubleshooting, and repairs as necessary.Interpret and work from fiber plans, splice diagrams, schematics, OTDR traces, and construction blueprints.Oversee the installation of splice cabinets, vaults, handholes, and fiber distribution hubs.Validate continuity, loss testing, and acceptance test procedures (ATPs).Ensure proper management of fiber slack, enclosures, closures, trays, and overall cable management.Crew Management & PerformanceProvide training and mentorship to splicers and helpers on best practices for fiber splicing and safety protocols.Enforce adherence to company standards, safety regulations, and customer-specific requirements.Conduct performance assessments, disciplinary actions, and productivity evaluations.Manage crew routing, vehicle assignments, equipment usage, and timekeeping approvals.Quality, Safety & ComplianceImplement and uphold OSHA, company, and customer safety procedures.Ensure crews submit daily reports, test outcomes, redlines, and as-built documentation.Promptly address any quality assurance or quality control deficiencies.Coordinate with inspectors, city officials, and customer auditors as needed.Administrative & Project ResponsibilitiesMonitor job progress, footage completed, and daily production logs.Manage orders for fiber materials, inventory, splicing supplies, and tool maintenance.Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and cost monitoring.Maintain proactive communication with customers and internal leadership regarding project status and challenges.Support the creation of close-out packages that include OTDR files, documentation, and labeling verification.
