About the job

Waymo is at the forefront of autonomous driving technology, committed to becoming the world's most reliable driver. Originating from the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, our focus has been on creating the Waymo Driver—The World’s Most Experienced Driver™—to enhance mobility access and save countless lives lost in traffic accidents. The Waymo Driver powers our fully autonomous ride-hail service and is adaptable across various vehicle platforms and applications. With over ten million rider-only trips completed, our driver has autonomously traversed more than 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across over 15 U. S. states.

In the role of Insurance Risk Manager at Waymo, you will be at the cutting edge of identifying and managing emerging risks associated with our revolutionary autonomous driving technology. Collaborating closely with our legal, public policy, safety, security, and privacy experts, you will evaluate insurance trends and assess product liability, automotive, cyber, and related risks. Your insights will help us establish robust risk and insurance frameworks that safeguard our users globally. You will work alongside our business development, product partnership, strategy, and operations teams to ensure our company’s interests are shielded from existing and forthcoming risks. Additionally, you will support our legal and policy teams in aligning our exposure with our risk appetite through contract reviews and the assessment of emerging laws and regulations at both state and federal levels. By maintaining strong relationships with insurance and AV industry partners, you will actively anticipate, quantify, and mitigate emerging risks.

This is a hybrid position reporting to the Head of Insurance Infrastructure.
