Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:A current student pursuing any degree with a strong interest in business. A Commerce degree with a major in Accounting and/or Finance is advantageous but not mandatory.While eligibility for Chartered Accountancy or CPA is common, it is not a requirement if you demonstrate eagerness and capability to develop business advisory skills.An analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for business and numbers.A proactive and diligent attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including emotional intelligence to manage client relations and competing priorities.No prior experience is necessary; however, part-time roles or internships in accounting, finance, customer service, retail, or hospitality are advantageous.

Join a dynamic and dedicated team of expert Advisors who provide critical services to small and medium-sized enterprises. In this role, you will assist business owners in overcoming their challenges by offering specialized technical accounting advice, virtual CFO services, preparation of financial statements and tax returns, tax consulting, and management accounting.
The Business Advisory team at Deloitte comprises over 500 finance professionals across New Zealand. Led by seasoned Partners, our team collaborates with a diverse portfolio of clients to address financial issues, implement efficient processes, interpret complex financial information, and help privately owned businesses and families achieve their financial goals.
Our advisors are positioned in all Deloitte offices throughout New Zealand, working closely with the Tax team and other business units to deliver outstanding client service.
Your Daily Responsibilities:
- Engage directly with clients to resolve intricate issues while presenting innovative solutions and insights.
- Prepare management reports, financial statements, and tax returns, providing technical advice on financial reporting, tax regulations, and operational processes.
- Enhance your skills in utilizing cloud-based systems such as Xero and Taxlab while supporting clients in their finance functions.
- Collaborate with various Deloitte teams, including Tax, Strategy Risk & Transactions, and Accounting & Reporting Advisory.
