The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting operations of a diverse portfolio of real estate assets, encompassing retail, commercial, and mixed-use properties. This pivotal role guarantees the integrity of financial reporting, oversees a dedicated team of property accountants, collaborates with property management teams, and spearheads initiatives to enhance accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the financial authority for our properties, which often present intricate challenges.
- Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and organizational standards.
- Work in close partnership with property managers to ensure uniformity and foster efficiency in operational reporting.
- Facilitate the execution of company-wide property management accounting and reporting strategies.
- Review monthly reporting packages prepared by other accountants for institutional stakeholders and asset managers.
- Maintain a schedule for all required reporting deadlines dictated by debt covenants, ensuring timely submissions.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with clients and property managers.
- Analyze data from multiple sources to deliver accurate and comprehensive insights to property owners.
- Provide mentorship to enhance operational efficiency within the team.
- Coordinate and support both internal and external audits, including the preparation of necessary audit schedules.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting procedures and bolster internal controls.
- Work approximately 40-45 hours per week depending on reporting cycles.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller.
