About the Role
As an Accounts Receivable Caller, you will play a critical role in the medical billing process by effectively communicating with insurance providers to address outstanding claims. Your responsibilities will include reviewing claims, identifying discrepancies, collaborating with payers, and ensuring prompt reimbursement. A thorough understanding of US healthcare systems, denial management, and insurance regulations is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct outbound calls to insurance companies regarding pending or unpaid claims.
• Follow up on claims submitted using CMS-1500 and UB-04 forms.
• Regularly track Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance claims.
• Analyze claim denials and non-covered charges to determine necessary actions.
• Manage denial codes, identify root causes, and work toward resolution.
• Coordinate appeals and ensure timely submissions according to payer guidelines.
• Familiarize yourself with hospital billing workflows and requirements.
• Possess knowledge of basic CPT codes and medical terminology.
• Verify claim statuses and interpret adjudication results from payers.
• Review authorization requirements for claims as needed.
• Navigate major insurance portals for claim status checks and dispute submissions.
• Manage dispute submissions for underpaid or denied claims.
• Accurately document call outcomes in billing systems.
• Escalate unresolved issues to the team lead or supervisor.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 1–2 years of experience in an AR Caller role or within US Medical Billing.
• Strong knowledge of hospital billing, claim adjudication, and authorization workflows.
• Understanding of non-covered charges and effective denial management strategies.
• Familiarity with CMS-1500 and UB-04 claim forms is a plus.
• Proficient in basic CPT codes and medical terminology.
