Key Responsibilities:
- Establish work zones, set up signage, conduct safety checks, and ensure sites are hazard-free while communicating effectively with climbers.
- Assist in dragging and chipping branch work, and transporting logs.
- Perform various arboriculture and horticulture tasks, including pruning, felling, dismantling, shaping, pollarding, stump grinding, root chasing, and safely using climbing equipment.
- Engage in grass cutting, strimming, hedge planting, hedge cutting, mixed bed maintenance, general site clearance, and fly tip removal, including hard re-landscaping and reinstatement work.
- Inspect all climbing equipment, ropes, and ladders for compliance with LOLER & PUWER regulations.
- Support rigging ropes and lowering systems during larger removals.
- Manage ropes (pulling, feeding, coiling) during climbing operations, ensuring all equipment is thoroughly inspected.
- Monitor the safety of climbers in trees, ready to assist in emergencies, and communicate intentions clearly on site.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of climbing equipment, PPE, saws, machinery, tools, chippers, stump grinder trailers, and vehicles, alerting managers to any necessary repairs or replacements.
