As an Assembly and Repair Technician at John Crane, you will play a vital role in the disassembly and assembly processes of rotating equipment, guided by a Repair job packet. Under general supervision, you will receive returned John Crane parts and materials from customers and branch offices, evaluating their condition to determine repairability.
Your responsibilities include:
- Identifying and inspecting returned materials.
- Ensuring all components are meticulously cleaned and free from contaminants according to departmental procedures.
- Assembling seals after repairs are authorized, ensuring all components are replaced or reconditioned and prepared for assembly.
- Carrying out repairs under close supervision, determining necessary repair operations, and ensuring accurate matching of BOM (bill of materials) with drawings and repair parts.
- Performing basic operations on machinery including drill presses, tool post grinders, bead blast polishers, and lapping machines.
- Verifying part specifications using instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and optical flats.
- Consulting with Engineering or Sales departments as needed.
- Maintaining records and managing a small inventory of seal parts for repair orders.
- Working from factory work orders, prints, rework orders, and verbal instructions.
- Assisting new repair personnel as needed.
- Setting up and troubleshooting lapping machines for repair maintenance.
