As our new Asset Lifecycle Engineer for Water Supply, you will play a crucial role in shaping the city's approach to planning, investment, and management of vital water services. This position demands over 10 years of experience in three waters asset management, enabling you to navigate complex networks, optimize lifecycle decisions, and deliver sound, evidence-based advice that influences long-term investment and operational strategies.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complexity yet appreciates simplicity, leads with both confidence and empathy, and desires to work in a collaborative environment that values flexibility and shared goals. Your extensive knowledge of water assets will be vital in ensuring Hamilton’s water supply remains resilient, sustainable, and prepared for future challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Convert asset strategies and models into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders and delivery partners.
- Lead the creation of operational, maintenance, and renewal strategies.
- Shape the water supply program for our Asset Management Plans, 10-year plan, and 30-year infrastructure strategy.
- Promote best-practice lifecycle asset management and continuous improvement.
- Oversee infrastructure planning projects and key initiatives to enhance asset maturity.
- Mentor and support asset engineers, fostering their growth and success.

Note: This role will initially be within Hamilton City Council but will transition to IAWAI – Flowing Waters, a Council Controlled Organisation, effective July 1, 2026. You will receive regular updates before and during this transition.
