The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is seeking an experienced attorney to fill the role of Assistant General Counsel for Contracts within our Contracts Unit. This team plays a crucial role in facilitating complex transactions that deliver technology and telecommunications products and services for the City and its residents. Your responsibilities will include negotiating sophisticated contracts vital to City operations and interpreting local laws on personal identifying information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate contract negotiations with potential vendors, supporting agency managers in the process;
- Draft comprehensive contracts or provisions focusing on software development, cloud services, software licenses, IT professional services, and data security;
- Collaborate with legal, information security, and business teams to review best practices for technology contracts, including updates to City standard terms and policies;
- Conduct interviews with agency personnel to gather insights on planned programs and projects to establish contracting objectives;
- Review and revise draft solicitation documents, such as invitations for bids and RFPs;
- Assess and amend draft contracts from prospective vendors;
- Provide guidance and information to agency personnel regarding contract negotiation, drafting, and administration;
- Consult with the City’s Law Department or the Mayor's Office of Contract Services as required;
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with clients and vendors;
- Serve as Deputy Agency Privacy Officer;
