KIPP New Jersey is excited to announce openings for the role of Assistant Principal, with interviews anticipated to commence in mid-to-late February 2026 and conclude by April 2026, leading to a start date in July 2026. As an Assistant Principal, you will play a pivotal role in driving instructional outcomes for a specific grade level or subject area, dedicating more than 75% of your time to leadership that promotes student achievement. We seek candidates who are former high-impact educators with a proven track record in managing and coaching adults. In this role, you will empower high-performing teachers, nurture new staff, and manage teacher performance with a strong commitment to equity. You will be a strategic decision-maker responsible for a segment of the school’s student and teacher body, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Your Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership
- Possess strong content knowledge, understanding essential standards and effective teaching strategies to coach and maintain high standards; adaptable across various subject areas.
- Enhance teacher effectiveness through observations, walkthroughs, real-time coaching, and data analysis focused on student outcomes and goal attainment.
- Partner with Achievement Directors and Teaching & Learning team members to monitor achievement data and inform instructional leadership development for teachers.
- Conduct weekly audits and analyses of data to inform strategic decisions and priorities.
- Design and facilitate impactful professional development that leads to improved teaching effectiveness.
- Ensure an effective testing environment with appropriate investment and procedures.
Student Culture
- Uphold high expectations for all students consistently.
- Foster a school culture where students find joy in learning and are fully engaged.
- Create an inclusive atmosphere where teachers build strong, lasting relationships with all students, particularly those who face challenges.
- Encourage an environment where all student voices are heard and respected.
- Address cultural violations and hold staff accountable for their professional conduct.
Staff Culture
- Regularly celebrate and show appreciation for your colleagues.
- Develop a school culture where teachers find joy in their roles and in student learning.
- Consistently model and uphold high expectations for all staff members.
- Establish clear systems for how the staff culture will operate (e.g., coaching, department meetings, etc.).
