Position Overview
The Associate - Project Controls plays a pivotal role in the strategic management and delivery of comprehensive project and program controls for designated accounts. This position demands expertise in advanced project controls functions, including budget management, cost forecasting, and performance monitoring, ensuring precise reporting on business and project statuses while fostering organizational best practices and guiding junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver project and program controls across complex portfolios, ensuring accuracy in budget and forecast costs for enterprise-wide visibility of business and project statuses.
- Lead and mentor project delivery teams in all facets of project controls and program management, establishing best practices and promoting continuous improvement.
- Advocate for and implement PMO best practices in alignment with industry standards and company protocols, influencing organizational processes.
- Utilize cornerstone systems and cost data formats to effectively monitor and control project performance, optimizing system utilization throughout the organization.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data and project metrics to identify critical issues, emerging trends, and strategic opportunities affecting project success.
- Create and maintain detailed cost forecasts, variance analyses, and expenditure projections for assigned accounts, offering strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Execute earned value management monitoring and performance measurement analysis, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
- Assess manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements against budget constraints and prepare comprehensive variance analyses along with strategic recommendations.
- Review and approve contractor invoices and purchase order commitments in line with authorization protocols, exercising independent judgment on complex financial matters.
- Maintain and enhance tracking databases to align subcontractor funding with work authorization and actual expenditures, identifying potential process improvements.
- Establish cost and schedule baseline budgets, integrating lessons learned and industry best practices.
- Oversee scope control and change management processes, tracking change order status and communicating strategic updates to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed project reports at various levels and facilitate project cost review meetings, presenting complex data to executive audiences.
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to junior staff regarding project controls procedures, professional growth, and career development.
- Monitor and manage action items to ensure project milestones are met.
