Qualifications
Job ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems.Conduct vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs utilizing Kia diagnostic protocols and equipment.Complete repair orders and warranty documentation in accordance with Kia and dealership standards.Test drive vehicles to confirm repair quality using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.Effectively communicate with service advisors and shop foremen to ensure a positive customer experience.Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while adhering to dealership safety protocols.RequirementsHonorable Discharge from U.S. Military Service.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Prior experience in a mechanical or technical field.Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.Able to thrive in a fast-paced dealership service environment.Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening.Preferred Skills (Not Required)Basic automotive maintenance or repair experience.Familiarity with diagnostic tools and hand tools.Experience with engines, electrical systems, or mechanical equipment.ASE certifications or technical training (a plus).

This role is part of the prestigious Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), a well-structured program developed by Kia America to facilitate the transition of Military Veterans into the automotive sector. Participants will engage in hands-on dealership experience while completing a one-year competency-based apprenticeship, ultimately leading to Kia Service Technician certification.
The VTAP offers Veterans the chance to work full-time at a collaborating Kia dealership, receiving the necessary training, tools, and support to evolve into adept automotive technicians. The program is GI Bill® approved, allowing eligible Veterans to obtain a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) throughout their apprenticeship.
As an Automotive Technician Apprentice, you will collaborate with seasoned technicians and service experts, honing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to diagnose, service, and repair Kia vehicles.
