Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and test electrical hardware for laser and optical subsystems, emphasizing power management, control systems, and signal processing.Develop and maintain schematics, PCB designs, and harness diagrams for laser systems and satellite subsystems.Conduct testing and validation of electrical systems, including integration with optical components such as detectors, sensors, and laser drivers.Perform thorough testing and debugging of electrical hardware to ensure robust operation under varying environmental conditions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (optics, mechanical, and thermal engineers) to guarantee seamless integration and system-level functionality.Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system requirements, design specifications, and test plans.Support environmental testing and validation, including thermal-vacuum, vibration, and electromagnetic interference tests to ensure space-qualification of electrical subsystems.Participate in customer and internal design reviews, providing technical insights and recommendations for system enhancements.Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously improving the design and development process within the electrical engineering lab.

Position Overview
As an Avionics Engineer at Aetherflux, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and integrating advanced electrical systems that support our state-of-the-art optical and laser satellite payloads. This hands-on position involves working with both electrical and optical components to ensure the flawless integration of high-power laser systems in our satellites. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of optical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers to create solutions that meet stringent performance standards for space applications.
This role is located on-site at our headquarters in San Carlos, CA, and you'll be part of an ambitious timeline, witnessing your contributions in space during our inaugural space demonstration planned for summer 2026.
