Qualifications
You should possess a strong passion for cloud transformation, automation, and resolving customer challenges.Your communication and collaboration skills will be vital, as will your understanding of the business advantages of cloud technologies. You should be proactive in taking ownership of issues and working collectively to identify solutions.It is preferred that you hold all three AWS Associate level certifications, and higher certifications, particularly the AWS Security Specialty, will be advantageous. Alongside robust AWS and DevOps technical capabilities, a commitment to your role and a collaborative spirit are essential. Familiarity with DevOps processes and proficiency in tools such as Git and Azure DevOps is also required.Experience in designing, building, deploying, and maintaining AWS solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) is essential, including but not limited to:Code Pipeline builds and Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, and Pulumi.Developing Lambda functions with knowledge of Python.Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud architecture, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.Managing tenancy, account structures, Control Tower configurations, Service Control Policies (SCPs), tagging, and cost management.In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, S3, and Lambda.

As a Cloud Engineer specializing in AWS, you will serve as a trusted advisor, utilizing your expertise to facilitate cloud transformation and optimization.
In this role, you will oversee customer cloud environments, enhancing and supporting AWS technologies. Your mission will be to address business challenges while providing insights into modern working methodologies and technological enablement.
This dynamic role offers flexibility and variety as you engage with a diverse clientele throughout the cloud transformation journey to:
- Act as a trusted authority on all cloud-related matters
- Motivate and guide customers on the advantages of adopting cloud technology, automation, and fostering a DevOps/DevSecOps culture
- Ensure optimal security and performance of our customers' cloud infrastructures
- Bridge the gap between application technologies and customer support teams
- Deliver guidance and enablement
Please note: This position is operational and requires participation in an on-call schedule for after-hours support. It can be based in any Datacom NZ office, with a preference for Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.
