About the job
Join Archer, a pioneering aerospace company headquartered in San Jose, California, where we are dedicated to revolutionizing sustainable air mobility through the development of all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our innovative designs prioritize minimal noise and environmental impact while enabling efficient transportation for up to four passengers.
At Archer, we are committed to tackling complex challenges and fostering a diverse workplace, believing that inclusivity drives greater insights and collective success. We strive to create an equitable environment that values and celebrates the unique contributions of all our team members.
Your Role:
As a Battery Controls Engineer, you will be instrumental in defining, validating, implementing, and verifying advanced high-voltage battery charging and thermal management algorithms tailored for our Midnight eVTOL aircraft. You will oversee the entire product development life cycle, from initial concept to final certification.
- Design and enhance cutting-edge control algorithms for high-voltage battery charging and thermal management.
- Conduct comprehensive validation of control software through SIL (Software-in-the-Loop), MIL (Model-in-the-Loop), HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop), and aircraft-level integration testing to ensure optimal system reliability under all operating and environmental conditions.
- Analyze lab, flight, and field data to troubleshoot complex issues, refine algorithms, and enhance charging performance continuously.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to establish requirements for charge control subsystems.
