Role Overview
The Beekeeper at Beeflow plays a vital role in executing our Pollination Program. This position involves hands-on tasks related to delivering high-quality hives to farms and deploying our innovative technologies to enhance pollination effectiveness.
This is an on-call position, primarily focused on hive audits and administering our technologies. Hives require auditing before and after the blueberry season.
Start Date: End of March
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hive audits to evaluate hive quality.
- Monitor and report hive status throughout the pollination season.
- Administer Beeflow’s technologies to hives with precision.
- Maintain hive productivity and health to meet pollination demands.
- Inspect hives for mites and other pests or diseases.
- Facilitate hive movement to local ranches.
- Repair and assemble hives as needed.
- Operate heavy machinery (forklifts, flatbeds, trailers, etc.).
- Adapt to varying shifts ranging from 6 to 16 hours during the day or occasionally at night.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of the farming industry, preferably within the local area.
- No allergies to bee stings.
- At least one year of beekeeping experience is mandatory.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Residing in or willing to relocate to the Eugene, Corvallis, Salem, Newberg/Wilsonville, or Hillsboro area for the duration of the project.
- Ability to travel to nearby cities/regions for hive audits and feeding administration.
