The Building Engineer I plays a crucial role in the upkeep, operation, and troubleshooting of essential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This position emphasizes routine maintenance tasks, prompt responses to tenant requests, and ensuring the safe operation of systems under the mentorship of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems; manage service requests such as temperature adjustments, plumbing repairs, and lighting issues.
- Diagnose minor equipment malfunctions and escalate more complex issues when necessary.
- Replace light fixtures, filters, and other components as needed.
- Maintain precise records of inspections and equipment performance.
- Engage with tenants, contractors, and property managers, collaborating closely with senior engineers and technicians to facilitate smooth building operations and address tenant concerns.
- Assist in preventive maintenance tasks and oversee contractors.
- Perform property inspections to identify deficiencies.
- Log equipment readings, ensuring assigned building systems meet operational standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment; comply with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations; report safety hazards and partake in safety inspections.
- Offer guidance to junior technicians as required.
- Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms with team members, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client personnel, providing necessary updates.
- Work closely with senior engineers to enhance technical skills and engage in professional development programs aimed at career advancement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
