About the Role
At Whop, we are developing robust financial infrastructure tailored for the next generation of entrepreneurs. We seek a Business Development Lead focused on forging impactful partnerships that onboard thousands of new businesses to our platform. This role will primarily involve hunting for new opportunities, closing deals, and ensuring that new merchants are fully operational on Whop for payments, banking, and advertising.
The partnerships we aim to cultivate include:
- Influencers and operators with substantial business networks: Codie Sanchez for SMBs, Pace Morby for real estate, Hormozi for small business owners.
- Venture funds and incubators (YC, A16z, ZFellows, Insight, Bain, etc.)
- Private equity firms eager to enhance profitability post-acquisition across their portfolios.
- Businesses currently engaging with our ideal customer profile: incorporation platforms, legal advisors, accountants, venture funds, and incubators.
You will oversee the entire deal-making process: identifying potential partners, negotiating agreements, and ensuring that their networks are actively leveraging Whop. A signed contract is just the beginning; the true measure of success is when merchants are live on our platform. Once a partnership is thriving, an account manager will take over, allowing you to pursue new opportunities.
Your target will be to close 2-3 major deals annually, maximizing the impact of each. This role reports directly to the Head of Sales and is based in New York City.
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize partnerships capable of delivering thousands of merchants.
- Negotiate and finalize agreements that align with Whop's growth strategy.
- Maintain a proactive approach to ensure that partnerships are successfully implemented and merchants are onboarded.
