The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a critical role in converting data into meaningful insights that drive strategic and operational decisions. This position emphasizes trend analysis, exploring relationships between various metrics, understanding the underlying reasons for changes, and effectively communicating insights through engaging narratives. The analyst will also contribute to forecasting and proactive analysis, employing Python for deeper data exploration and visualization when standard BI tools fall short. This position transcends traditional reporting and dashboard creation, focusing on correlation, causation, forecasting, and compelling storytelling.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to applicable regulations while fostering organizational transparency.
- Create and update business dashboards and reports utilizing Power BI or comparable tools.
- Examine trends, patterns, and interconnections across business metrics.
- Conduct root-cause analysis to investigate KPI fluctuations and anomalies.
- Develop and sustain basic forecasting and projection models for essential business metrics.
- Assist in scenario analysis and provide forward-looking insights across various cases (best, expected, worst).
- Implement Python-based analytical techniques and visualizations when in-depth analysis is necessary.
- Transform business inquiries into comprehensive analytical frameworks and metrics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from Product, Finance, Operations, and Engineering to deliver actionable insights.
- Contribute to defining KPIs, documenting metrics, and ensuring governance.
- Present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including leadership teams.
- Demonstrate strong SQL skills for analytical querying and data exploration.
- Possess hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, including building dashboards and reports, working with semantic models, and applying filters, drill-downs, and row-level security concepts.
- Maintain a solid grasp of analytical concepts such as trend analysis, forecasting, correlation vs. causation, and variance analysis.
- Experience with data warehouses, preferably BigQuery.
- Proficient in Python for analysis, including data exploration and transformation (e.g., pandas), visualization (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn, or equivalent), and utilizing Python notebooks or scripts for analytical support.
- Familiarity with data validation techniques to ensure the accuracy of analyses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, or a similar capacity.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Capability to interpret future outcomes based on historical data.
- Ability to convey insights and forecasts clearly, with or without dashboards.
