Key Responsibilities include:Initiating and monitoring open purchase orders to ensure timely receipt and maintain inventory levels.Assisting in negotiating pricing and delivery terms, as well as supplier selection and management.Ensuring subcontract suppliers perform consistently to meet delivery schedules and contractual commitments.Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers to support production plans.Facilitating direct purchases of raw materials and components for prototypes and product launches.Supporting engineering changes, managing non-conformances, and resolving discrepancies in accounting and receiving.Participating as a core team member in product launches, set builds, and special projects.Implementing procurement strategies and identifying alternative sourcing options to ensure a cost-effective supply chain.Managing inventory levels and schedules to align with build and launch timelines.Acting as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments including R&D, Quality, and Regulatory.Contributing to negotiations for pricing and supplier selection as needed.

As a pivotal member of the procurement team, the Buyer I is tasked with the essential role of managing the purchasing of both component and finished goods related to instruments and implants for designated product lines within Atec Spine. This position involves supporting new product launches by purchasing prototypes, pilot production, and full-scale launch quantities, ensuring that all materials are sourced from qualified suppliers and delivered punctually. The Buyer will be instrumental in executing procurement strategies such as supplier consolidation, kanban, and vendor-managed inventory (VMI) as directed.
The ideal candidate will also engage with supplier management responsibilities, closely monitoring supplier performance based on metrics like quality, delivery, and lead times. Collaboration with the Operations team is crucial for accurate and timely communication of supply needs. This role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adept negotiation capabilities, and a solid understanding of project management and risk management related to supply chain operations. Regular updates on program performance, material acquisition, and alignment with technical, cost, and scheduling objectives will be provided to upper management.
