The Staff Radiographer is responsible for executing diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing Radiographic equipment to produce essential information for patient diagnosis and treatment, in accordance with industry standards, departmental protocols, hospital guidelines, and IEMA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess physician’s orders for Radiological examinations based on departmental procedures.
- Evaluate procedure requests and assess patients to determine the most suitable imaging protocol.
- Advise patients on radiation safety and related concerns as necessary.
- Educate patients about the examination process to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort during procedures.
- Position patients and perform diagnostic imaging procedures using appropriate technology while providing care per departmental nursing standards and “Patients First” guidelines.
- Document and maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Conduct electronic quality analysis of radiographic images.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Adhere to research protocols and maintain comprehensive records for research data.
- Report any equipment failures, irregularities, or disrepair to the supervisor promptly.
- Ensure the exam room is supplied and maintained according to departmental standards.
- Assist in training house staff, student technologists, and ancillary personnel regarding diagnostic imaging.
- Facilitate patient scheduling and transportation efficiently.
- Provide high-quality patient data and optimize productivity to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Collect data for quality management measurement and tracking.
- Engage in formal and informal process improvement initiatives to elevate service quality.
- Ensure continuity of care through effective collaboration with other departments.
