Purpose
The Category Manager for Market Research, Data & Analytics will collaborate closely with AbbVie’s Commercial sector, functioning as the key procurement liaison for the Analytics and Business Insights teams. This role is pivotal in developing and executing category procurement strategies in partnership with the Global Category Lead and senior leadership, managing the complete procurement lifecycle for market research, data services, and analytics expenditures. The Category Manager is tasked with enhancing supplier management, promoting cost efficiencies, and ensuring value delivery in alignment with business objectives and compliance regulations.
NOTE: This is a hybrid position based in North Chicago, requiring three days in the office and two days working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer the implementation of category strategies with the Global Category Lead for Market Research, Data, and Analytics within AbbVie’s Commercial division.
- Foster strong relationships with essential stakeholders in the Market Analytics and Business Insights teams, effectively aligning on collaboratively developed business strategies.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the market research, data, and analytics value chain, employing fact-based negotiation strategies to enhance supplier partnerships through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs.
- Realize annual cost-saving objectives while actively contributing to the formulation of long-term value creation strategies for the category.
- Provide supplier performance metrics, industry insights, and category analytics to the Global Category Lead to support informed strategic decisions.
- Oversee sourcing initiatives (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, pricing events) in collaboration with a team of sourcing professionals to execute category strategies.
- Work alongside cross-functional partners to negotiate contracts, ensuring timely completion and effective risk management.
- Act as a change agent for innovation, challenging the status quo and facilitating organizational design transformations.
- Skillfully navigate a dynamic environment characterized by shifting business needs and diverse stakeholder groups to achieve actionable outcomes.
- Maintain high ethical standards, adhering to legal and AbbVie’s policies and procedures.
- Mentor Procurement Specialists and fellow Category Managers, contributing to talent development and functional knowledge sharing.
