TrexQuant is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced senior alpha producer to take on the role of Co-Head of Quantitative Research in our Gurugram office. This pivotal position blends leadership with hands-on research, requiring a proven expert with a strong history of generating profitable and scalable alpha within equity and derivatives markets. Your primary goal will be to boost alpha production while enhancing and expanding our research capabilities locally.
As a Co-Head, you will collaborate closely with the existing Head of Research in India, sharing leadership duties as our team grows. This role demands a track record of production credibility — we are looking for an individual who is as comfortable producing alpha as they are managing teams.
Core Responsibilities:
- Co-manage the research function in India, ensuring adherence to high research standards and reproducibility, alongside structured research evaluations.
- Generate unique, robust, and scalable equity and derivatives alpha while making direct contributions to live trading P&L.
- Enhance research quality across the office and support team scaling without compromising on standards.
- Independently develop, validate, and implement profitable trading signals to directly drive alpha generation.
- Refine and enhance existing research methodologies, fostering innovation in modeling, data analysis, and signal development with a strong focus on statistical rigor and out-of-sample validation.
- Define thematic priorities and research roadmaps to steer the research platform’s direction.
- Mentor and grow the team by coaching researchers, nurturing high-potential talent, maintaining a high hiring standard, and ensuring that growth does not dilute alpha quality.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS/PhD in a STEM discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in systematic equity and derivatives alpha research.
- Demonstrated ability to generate statistically robust and profitable signals.
- Direct contributions to live P&L.
- Proven history of generating at least $20 million in attributable P&L through developed strategies.
- Deep understanding of signal decay, capacity, risk management, and techniques for mitigating overfitting.
- Proficiency in programming and research infrastructure.
