The Anglo American Steelmaking Coal (SMC) Supply Chain team oversees the full spectrum of procurement activities for SMC. This includes Category Management, Sourcing & Contracts, Project Procurement, and Purchasing. Our team collaborates with corporate and site stakeholders to effectively implement and manage contract performance and supplier relationships, enhance the local supply base, and ensure the uninterrupted provision of goods and services essential for operations.
Following an internal promotion, we are excited to welcome a Commercial Analyst to our dynamic Supply Chain team in Brisbane. This opportunity is perfect for an early-career procurement professional or an individual with a finance/accounts payable background in the mining industry looking to transition into a commercial or supply chain pathway.
As a Commercial Analyst, you will be instrumental in facilitating end-to-end procurement and contract management across various essential service categories. These categories may include labor hire, underground mining services, civil and construction services, drilling and exploration, as well as maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) services and goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and benchmark supplier quotes for contracts with varying levels of risk, complexity, and value.
- Negotiate favorable rates and commercial terms to optimize agreements.
- Draft comprehensive contract documentation using existing templates, ensuring clarity in scopes of work, rates, special conditions, and deviations.
- Prepare contracts for approval and execute them in accordance with governance protocols.
- Manage post-award contract processes, including amendments, rate evaluations, and supplier benchmarking.
- Monitor contract lifecycle timelines and initiate actions to ensure consistent availability of supplies.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) on the commercial dashboard (e.g., lead times, contract coverage, category/supplier/contractor performance) and proactively address and escalate issues as needed.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders across operations and supply chain.
- Support initiatives aimed at enhancing commercial outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to responsible sourcing and adherence to global commercial standards.
