Join our dynamic Commissary team at Proper Food as a Porter / Receiver and play a crucial role in ensuring our commissary kitchen in Bushwick, Brooklyn is clean, well-stocked, organized, and operating at peak efficiency.
About the Role
This physically engaging, behind-the-scenes position supports the daily operations of our commissary. Your responsibilities will include receiving deliveries, keeping storage areas clean and organized, and completing daily cleaning tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete daily general cleaning tasks as per checklist
Receive, inspect, label, and correctly store all incoming deliveries
Learn essential product identification and storage standards
Fill out necessary receiving and food safety documentation
Check and record cooler and freezer temperatures daily
Maintain cleanliness and organization in receiving, storage, and work areas
Dispose of trash and recycling on a daily basis
Perform light maintenance tasks as required or assigned
Work Schedule
Five days a week
Availability for Sundays is a must
Current Shift Schedule:
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Monday - Thursday: 5:30 AM - 1:30 PM
