Main Purpose of the Position
The Consortium for Red Palm Weevil Control (C4RPWC) is a collaborative initiative spearheaded by the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in partnership with the UAE Government, the Gates Foundation, CGIAR centers, and various international research institutions. This project is dedicated to safeguarding date palms, enhancing livelihoods, and promoting environmental sustainability through innovative pest management practices. To ensure effective communication and dissemination of research findings, ICARDA is seeking a Communications and Knowledge Management Officer to take charge of executing the C4RPWC Communications and Outreach Plan.
The Communications Team at ICARDA engages in a variety of activities within a dynamic and fast-paced environment to promote the organization’s initiatives, news, and successes. The majority of outputs are digital, focusing on social media and the website, complemented by traditional media engagement, printed publications, event management, and relationship building with partners. Additionally, the team provides essential marketing resources and style guidelines to colleagues, supports internal communication, and maintains consistency in ICARDA's external voice and branding.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with ICARDA’s Head of Communications and the C4RPWC management and technical teams to spearhead communication, outreach, and knowledge-sharing efforts. They will be responsible for ensuring effective visibility, stakeholder engagement, and distribution of results through integrated media and knowledge management strategies that align with ICARDA and CGIAR standards. Regular coordination with the C4RPWC team, donors, and partners will be essential to guarantee quality and coherence in communications outputs and branding across this high-profile, multifaceted project.
