About the job
Join SMX as a Communications Program Systems Engineer, where you will play an essential role as the chief technical architect and synchronization lead for the PEO Tactical Information Systems (PEO-TIS) portfolio. As SOCOM spearheads the integration of advanced waveforms into Programs of Record (POR), your expertise will be pivotal in advancing the development of resilient Software Defined Radio (SDR) waveforms. This position acts as a force multiplier, connecting the efforts of PM Tactical Communications (PM TCC) with the broader SOF enterprise to enhance and fortify command and control capabilities against emerging electronic warfare threats.
This position requires a DoD TS/SCI security clearance, necessitating US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Application Deadline: April 13, 2026
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Synchronization & System of Systems:
- Facilitate technical alignment across PEO-TIS by harmonizing engineering initiatives between tactical radio programs and enterprise information systems to construct a cohesive "System of Systems" architecture.
Resilient Waveform & Tactical Integration:
- Oversee the engineering, testing, and deployment of next-generation RF capabilities and resilient SDR waveforms, ensuring robust encryption, frequency-hopping, and MANET/Link-16/SADL integration into current and future SOF platforms.
Strategic Capability Analysis:
- Formulate strategies to identify technical synergies across the portfolio, uncover capability gaps, and align industry innovations with SOF-specific requirements.
Acquisition Lifecycle Management:
- Design and implement Systems Engineering Plans (SEP) throughout all phases (PDR, CDR, FCA/PCA) in accordance with DoD 5000-series standards; offer technical insights to PEO program managers.
Configuration & Quality Control:
- Oversee configuration management down to the individual Configuration Item (CI) level; participate in Engineering Review Boards (ERB) to approve modifications and mitigate system-wide risks.
Strategic Stakeholder Liaison:
- Act as the technical link between PM TCC, external vendors, and other key stakeholders.
