About Cool Earth
Cool Earth is an international non-profit organization committed to protecting tropical rainforests by supporting the communities that inhabit them. With over 15 years of experience collaborating with indigenous peoples and local communities in the world's most significant rainforests, such as the Amazon, the Congo Basin, and Papua New Guinea, we strive to make a lasting impact.
Our mission is to empower indigenous peoples living in the most threatened tropical forests by providing flexible funding, data tools, and collaborative support to enhance locally-led initiatives and bolster the resilience of communities, enabling them to protect their forests and territories in the face of climate change.
At Cool Earth, we work closely with allied communities in the Amazon, grounded in trust, respect, and mutual collaboration. Our diverse and adaptable team values shared leadership and inclusivity, seeking individuals with a passion for community engagement, a commitment to the land, and a desire to build solutions alongside local communities.
About the Position
The Unconditional Cash Transfer program has been operating for over 15 years in the Asháninka landscape. The primary goal of this program is to address the basic and priority needs of native communities and indigenous peoples living in forests impacted by the climate crisis. The program includes two types of projects: bridge financing, which involves community-level cash transfers, and basic income, which entails individual-level cash transfers, implemented in 9 communities across two regions of the country.
Additionally, the Forestry Data program was established in Peru in 2022, aiming to bridge information and technology gaps by overcoming barriers faced by rainforest communities in accessing satellite data, supporting the local generation of territorial data, and promoting knowledge exchange. Two principles characterize our work: developing mechanisms that ensure cultural relevance and supporting local leadership on how to use...
