Join the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs as a Compliance Analyst III. This pivotal role involves overseeing the regulation of defense trade in accordance with the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) is dedicated to ensuring compliance with these complex regulations, which govern the export and import of defense articles, services, and technical data. As a Compliance Analyst, you will aid in maintaining the integrity of defense trade through various compliance checks and enforcement actions.
- Assist in the registration process for exporters, manufacturers, and brokers under ITAR regulations, under close supervision.
- Review submissions from registrants to ensure compliance with criminal and foreign ownership regulations.
- Facilitate the review of mergers and acquisitions involving registrants.
- Address routine registration matters and escalate unique issues to senior staff.
- Evaluate license requests on the Watch List for enforcement reasons, coordinating with law enforcement as necessary.
- Manage voluntary disclosures from the defense industry regarding civil violations of AECA and ITAR, drafting summaries for supervisor review.
