Job Overview
We are on the lookout for a talented Composite Technician to join our Production team. Reporting directly to the Composites Manufacturing Lead, you will be integral in fabricating high-performance composite structures for Saildrone’s uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs). Your role will involve transforming engineering designs into reliable, production-ready components that adhere to stringent quality, safety, and performance criteria. We seek a dedicated manufacturing expert who takes pride in their craftsmanship, executes tasks with precision, and thrives in a fast-paced production setting.
The Composites Team
The Composites team is responsible for the design, construction, and continuous enhancement of Saildrone’s autonomous maritime platforms. Our mission is to produce robust, scalable composite structures that facilitate dependable global operations across defense, security, and commercial endeavors. In close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams, we ensure that our composite components satisfy the rigorous demands of operation in challenging maritime conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Composite Fabrication: Create high-performance composite components utilizing prepreg, infusion, and wet/vacuum bag lamination techniques to meet design specifications and production goals.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and implement engineering drawings and ply books, ensuring all components fulfill exacting dimensional and structural standards.
- Chemical & Material Handling: Oversee the accurate mixing and application of epoxy resins, fairing compounds, and industrial coatings, upholding the highest standards for chemical safety and material traceability.
