Join the Denny's team as a Cook, where you'll report directly to the General Manager and Restaurant Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of food to order, adhering closely to our menu and food specifications. You will also ensure compliance with all food safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
Key Responsibilities
Your performance as a Cook will be evaluated based on several key business areas:
- Prepare, cook, and present food according to Denny's established brand standards and recipe guidelines.
- Follow proper prepping procedures, utilizing prep charts, while managing the storage and rotation of perishable stock.
- Maintain food temperatures in accordance with Denny's Brand Standards and applicable regulations.
- Prepare special orders as required by customers.
- Ensure that stock levels meet shift par levels.
- Organize and maintain a clean work area, including coolers and storage spaces.
- Assist with product inventory and deliveries as needed.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of cooking equipment including ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, and utensils.
- Comply with all safe food handling practices.
- Complete side work and deep cleaning tasks efficiently and on time.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of products and menu offerings.
- Monitor waste and manage food costs effectively.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest complaints and concerns, informing the supervisor of any issues.
- Support service assistants as needed and willingly help others.
- Adhere to Denny's Brand Standards and internal policies.
- Provide friendly and efficient service to both team members and guests.
Physical Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must be able to:
- Lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs. during your shift.
- Perform bending, stooping, reaching, and grasping tasks.
- Move and operate efficiently in confined workspaces.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor restaurant environments.
- Read and interpret tickets, recipes, and product specifications.
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout a 4 to 8-hour shift.
- Hear well in a noisy environment to respond to team and guest needs.
- Comply with local and state regulations regarding food handling health risks.
- Handle potentially hazardous chemicals safely.
- Tolerate temperature changes in kitchen and freezer areas.
