Qualifications & Experience:Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience is essential.Demonstrated leadership skills are required.Graduation from a Food Safe Course is mandatory.Red Seal certification is considered an asset.A minimum of 2 years of relevant cooking experience is required.Familiarity with cook chill/freeze systems is advantageous.Exceptional communication skills and a professional demeanor are necessary.The ability to recommend solutions, take initiative, and solve problems is essential.High attention to detail and the capability to work independently are required.

The Opportunity
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Manager of Food Services, the Cook I will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to clients, families, visitors, and staff, adhering to established policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe, sanitary, and visually appealing dining atmosphere for all Carewest patrons. This role encompasses a variety of cooking and rethermalization tasks, demanding sound judgment and independence in accordance with client dietary plans and Carewest standards, including quality and quantity control measures.
In alignment with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care, and Quality Dining statement, this position requires the maintenance of professional, ethical, and safe standards while offering kind and compassionate customer service. The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively is crucial for success in this role. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
