Qualifications
Qualifications:1. A minimum of one year of full-time, satisfactory experience in a rodent control program, including cleanup, extermination, or related community education activities; or2. One year of full-time experience in roles involving supervision of at least three individuals in one or more of the following areas:- Rodent or pest control- Trash collection- Street cleaning- Park maintenance- Building cleaning- Community service work involving interaction with groups and individuals. Special Note: For placement in Assignment Level III:- Four years of supervisory experience in Pest Control (Assignment Level I or II); or- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution; or- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education and five years of full-time paid experience in relevant areas.

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Division of Environmental Health is dedicated to safeguarding the community from environmental and occupational health risks through proactive outreach, comprehensive education, rigorous surveillance, and enforcement activities. With a robust team of 1,000 professionals, the Division oversees a diverse array of initiatives, including environmental investigations, lead poisoning prevention, occupational health, food safety, childcare regulations, radiation control, and pest control services. We are currently seeking a dedicated Crew Chief to join our Bureau of Veterinary and Pest Control Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise work assignments and provide guidance to crew members.
- Assess operational sites for safety compliance and ensure a secure working environment.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for crew members and accurately document daily activities using handheld devices.
- Regularly inspect and maintain tools and equipment utilized in field operations.
- Ensure the availability of safety materials and supplies at work sites.
- Employ advanced pest control techniques using the Burrow Rx machine and geomesh (Excluder) materials.
