Role Overview
We are on the lookout for a dedicated Data Center Inventory Technician with a specialization in Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) to bolster our dynamic team in Tucson. This pivotal role encompasses the comprehensive lifecycle management of physical hardware assets, including receiving, inventory control, deployment, returns (RMA), and decommissioning. Your expertise is essential for ensuring accuracy, uptime, and vendor accountability within our expansive infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, label, log, and stage servers, components, and racks with precision.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of data center hardware from receipt, tagging, deployment, transfers, audits, storage, to decommissioning.
Ensure real-time accuracy and conduct regular audits on all data center assets.
Document and track asset movements between locations, cages, and vendors effectively.
Facilitate secure hardware retirement, data destruction verification, and certified disposal processes.
Manage the end-to-end RMA process for various components, including servers, GPUs, drives, PSUs, and NICs, ensuring accurate validation of hardware failures.
Create, track, and reconcile all RMA cases with vendors until resolution.
Prepare and manage outbound RMA shipments, ensuring secure packaging, labeling, serial tracking, and customs documentation.
Collaborate with Data Center Operations to efficiently replace failed components while minimizing downtime.
Maintain up-to-date reporting on failure rates, turnaround times, and vendor service level agreements (SLAs).
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 4 years of experience managing hardware RMAs with major OEMs or component vendors.
Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adhere to structured procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear documentation and handoffs.
Proficiency with inventory tracking systems and a commitment to maintaining accurate data.
Hands-on experience with servers, GPUs, and other data center components is highly preferred.
